Planning handbook

A useful plan connects your academic direction, a realistic shortlist, a budget and the documents needed for the selected intake.

Three things to keep together: your intended field, the university’s current requirements and the total first-year cost.

Choose an academic route

Start with the qualification you already hold, the field you want to study and the teaching language you can support. A programme title alone is not enough; ask which subjects, language evidence and documents the university requests for the intended intake.

Match universities to your situation

Compare programme availability, city, accommodation, academic fit and the source date for every important fact. Keep a short list of questions for each institution instead of treating a directory card as an offer.

Separate costs and funding

Budget tuition, accommodation, food, transport, insurance, registration, travel and personal spending separately. A scholarship is competitive until an issuer confirms it in writing; do not subtract it from your plan early.

Prepare documents and timing

Gather academic records and identity documents early, then follow the selected university’s current format and translation instructions. Leave time for questions, corrections and any documents issued after admission.

Plan the visa and arrival stage

After admission, follow the instructions for the visa centre or Chinese mission serving your application location. Confirm the university’s arrival, registration and accommodation process before travel.
