Chinese University Program — CSC Type B
Apply through a participating Chinese university.
The Chinese University Program, commonly known as CSC Type B, allows designated Chinese universities to recruit international students for Chinese Government Scholarship funding.
This route is particularly relevant to students who already have a specific university and academic program in mind.
Unlike the Bilateral Program, the student generally applies through the participating university, which conducts its own academic review before recommending candidates to CSC.
What can it cover?
Depending on the university and approved scholarship:
- Tuition fee waiver
- University accommodation
- Comprehensive medical insurance
- Monthly living allowance
Current CSC-funded university programs commonly provide:
Bachelor’s: RMB 2,500/month
Master’s: RMB 3,000/month
Doctoral: RMB 3,500/month
What may be required?
A Type B application can involve:
- Passport
- Academic certificates
- Academic transcripts
- Language certificate
- Study plan or research proposal
- Recommendation letters
- Physical examination
- Pre-admission or provisional acceptance documents where required
- CSCA results for applicable Bachelor’s applications
- University application
The important part
A Type B application is not simply “apply to CSC and wait.”
Many universities require applicants to complete both the CSC application system and the university’s own application system.
For example, 2026 university instructions explicitly require applicants to submit through both systems.
